Afghanistan played some spectacular cricket to defeat Zimbabwe in both the one-dayers as well as the T20 series. Here’s a look at the star performers for Afghanistan from the series.

Mohammad Nabi: He led the pack for Afghanistan in the one-dayers, finishing with 223 runs in five games at an average of 44.60 and a strike rate 85.11. He hit one hundred and one fifty with a highest of 116. He brought all his experience into play and proved why he is rated so highly. He also batted well in the first T20; his unbeaten 33 being a key contribution in Afghanistan’s victory in the match.

Noor Ali Zadran: He was the only other batsman to have scored more than 200 runs in the ODI series. He finished with 202 runs from five games at an average of 40.40 with three fifties and a highest of 60. The only disappointing aspect of his batting was his strike rate, which was under 55. He does have the ability to hang around, which he can build on.

Mohammad Shahzad: He proved to be impressive with 176 runs at an average of 35.2 with one fifty and a highest of 80, at a strike rate of exactly 100. He got starts constantly in the series, making 23, 30 and 26 in three of the other four games. Shahzad contributed in the T20s as well, scoring 34 and 24 in the two games.

Dawlat Zadran: He had a memorable one-day series, with 9 wickets from five games at an average of 16.6 at a strike rate of 25.7 and an economy rate of 3.9. He had a best of 4 for 22 in the series. He was also the leading wicket-taker in the T20, with five wickets at an average of 10.6, and a best of 3 for 29.

Amir Hamza: He was also a key factor in Afghanistan’s historic one-day series win, with nine wickets at an average of 20.55 at an economy rate of 4.1 and a best of 3 for 41. He played a crucial role in the second T20 as well, claiming 2 for 26 in his four overs.

Rashid Khan: He picked up five wickets in four games, averaging 27.2 at an economy rate of 3.65 and a best of 2 for 24. Rashid also bowled an economical spell of 1 for 20 in the first T20.

Usman Ghani: In the second T20, where Afghanistan chased down 191, Ghani starred with 65 from 45 balls with six fours and three sixes. He perfectly set up the chase for his team.

Gulbadin Naib: He was the other star for Afghanistan in that chase of 191, slamming an unbeaten 56 from 31 with seven fours. He also claimed two wickets with the ball, and was the obvious choice for man of the match, as Afghanistan sealed the T20 series 2-0, to go with the one-day triumph achieved earlier.
