Australia's stand-in coach David Saker has said that fast bowler Pat Cummins will have to carry a major workload in the India series

Australia's stand-in coach David Saker has said that fast bowler Pat Cummins will have to carry a major workload in the India series with most of the experienced fast bowlers injured. In fact, if all goes well, he will end up playing all five ODIs, Saker revealed in a PTI report.

Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and James Pattinson are all injured, and have been rested keeping the Ashes in mind. Cummins will lead an attack comprising Nathan Coulter-Nile and Kane Richardson

"At this stage we're planning for him to play all the games. We know that his workloads are up there, but we know it's an important series. It's Australia vs India, it doesn't get any bigger than that," Saker was quoted as saying in the PTI report.

Cummins’ career has been severely affected by injuries since his debut against South Africa in 2011. In the warm-up match against Board President's XI yesterday, he bowled just four overs.

"He's really determined to play well over here. It'll be game-by-game basis, we'll play it by the ear," the stand-in coach added.

Australia kick off the ODI series with the first match in Chennai on September 17 at the M A Chidambaram stadium.
